Art & Design
It has been said that art is a reflection of the artist
- a type of biography. The work that an artist creates is constructed
using knowledge and elements from his or her own past experiences and
unique talents. Therefore, each work of art is representative in some
way of the artist who created it.
Compositional
Scans
These types of compositions help novice artists learn
the basic principles of art and design. By using a scanner as a canvas,
the beginner can experiment with organizational structure, balance, harmony,
variety, movement, rhythm, proportion, unity, and the different elements
of art.
Photographic
Art
Using compositional scans as a prerequisite, photographic
art builds on the fundamental principles of art while learning how to
effectively use a digital SLR camera. By using photographic art, artists
can experiment with field of view, focus, light, and compositional structure
to create high-resolution pieces of art.
Graphic Design
The works in this gallery represent designs created
for competitions, assigned class work, and for other purposes. Depending
on why a work was created, some illustrate basic design principles while
others are more complex. Some designs were done completely in software
applications while others were created by hand using the materials noted
in each piece.
